Eileen Slatter believes “Mind over the Marker Matters” being a surreal automatism artist. She started to use a black marker pen to draw automatic images after studying Andre Breton and the surrealist movement. For her final dissertation in the last six months of studying fine.
“The drawings have become a bit of an obsession with me now! I like the idea of using your subconscious mind to create an image”. Eileen experiments with her drawings by incorporating other methods such as Photoshop to enhance her paintings with hue and saturation.
Each drawing is unique, “I believe there is a lot to be said for digital art in this modern day; the camera was once thought of as escapism, but now that it is a brilliant artists’ tool, so I also I believe the computer and mixed media, can be included with this.”
