Loved in zoos around the world, ring-tailed lemurs are very sociable animals that live in groups of up 30 individuals. They live mainly in the trees, but also spend a lot od time on the ground.

Ring-tailed lemurs are now critically endangered. They are hunted by the pet trade and for bust meat, they are also suffering as their habitats, deciduous forests, bush and scrub, are destroyed by burning practices to create charcoal and to clear land for pasture. With all this happening the lemur may, unfortunately become extinct.
