Orangutans are are a highly intelligent species that shares 96.4% of our genes! As tree canopy dwellers, the play a vital role in running of the rainforest by doing the simplest of tasks such as eating fruit and opening up the canopy whilst travelling.
The orangutans are at threat due to deforestation, forest and peat fires, illegal logging and hunting. As they play a vital role within the forest ecosystem, it is crucial that we conserve their habitat for other species and local communities.
