Animal: pygmy three-toed sloth (Bradypus pymaeus)

Conservation status: Critically endangered

Main threats: Hunting & habitat destruction

Growing up to 53cm, pygmy three-toed sloths are only found in Isla Escudo de Veraguas, Panama. They are very slow-moving animals, but excel in endurance with their strong grips, stealth and camouflage abilities. They are surprisingly excellent swimmers too!

Deforestation is alarming for survival for the survival of the three-toed sloth as it causes loss of not only their habitat, but source of food. This furthermore leads them to be more prone to predator attacks.
